Let’s be honest. How many times have you come home after a long day and your first instinct—almost reflexively—is to take off your bra from under your shirt, feeling an immense sense of relief?
If the answer is “almost every day,” we have news for you: It’s not the bra’s fault. It’s the size.
In Luna Splendida , we believe that the right lingerie shouldn’t just provide support—it should hug your body like a second skin, give you confidence, and, most importantly, be so comfortable you don’t even notice it’s there.
Forget about complicated charts and math for a moment.
Let's take a different look at the topic of "the right bra size"
The “Permanent 75B” Syndrome
There’s an unwritten rule that says when a woman doesn’t know her bra size, she automatically buys a 75B (or 80B). It’s the “safe zone” that, in the end… isn’t safe at all.
Our bodies change. They change with exercise, with hormones, and passage of time. Wearing the same size you wore five years ago is like expecting the same pair of jeans to fit you forever. Hit the reset button and see your body as it is today.
The 3 “suspects” that give away the wrong number
Instead of looking for measuring tapes, take a look in the mirror. Your bra is sending you signals.
- The back is too high: If the back of the bra forms a “V,” then your back circumference is too large. The support (80%) should come from the back, not from the straps!
- The “Double Boob” Effect: If your breasts spill over the top or sides of the cup, the cup is too small. The right cup should smoothly enclose all of your breast tissue.
- The straps dig into your shoulders: If you have red marks on your shoulders at night, it means the straps are doing all the work because the back of the bra is too loose.
A constant feeling of discomfort: If, after a few hours, you feel pressure or have a constant need to adjust and pull up your underwear to keep it in place.
It’s Not Your Body’s Fault: The Secret Behind Different Brands & Cuts
What complicates matters even further is that there is no strict, universal standard for sizes. The size may vary slightly from one company to another, and even from the one style of bra from one style to another within the same brand!
So, it’s perfectly normal to end up with a different size depending on whether you choose a balconette, a strapless or a bra without wire. Each style has its own way of hugging the shape of your breasts and providing support.
Remember: Your body isn’t “difficult” or “strange.” It’s just that the sizing system isn’t always perfectly uniform.
So, don’t get hung up on the size label—focus instead on how the underwear feels on you.
Decoding: What do the number and the letter actually mean?
Let’s put it in the simplest terms:
- The number (70, 75, 80, 85…) = Your body. It is the circumference of your chest just below your breasts.
- The Letter (A, B, C, D, E…) = Your bust size (the cup size).
This means that a woman with a narrow back but a full bust might be a 70D, while a woman with a wider back and a smaller bust might be an 85A. A larger letter size doesn’t necessarily mean a larger bra!
The “Sister Sizes” Trick
This is the biggest secret of lingerie experts that very few women know. If you try on a bra and the back feels right but the cup feels slightly empty (or vice versa), the solution lies in “Sister Sizes”—sizes that have exactly the same cup volume but differ in back size.
- If you go up a size in the back, you should go down a letter in the cup (e.g., a 75C has the same cup volume as an 80B).
- If you go down a size in the back, you need to go up a letter in the cup size (e.g., an 80B has the same cup size as a 75C).

How to Measure Yourself Correctly (The Luna Way)
If you want to take the measure at home, put on your most comfortable bra (non-padded/non-push-up) and grab a measuring tape.
Step 1 (back):
Measure the circumference just below your chest, snugly and horizontally. This number (in centimeters) tells you your size (e.g., 73–77 cm is size 75).Round to the nearest whole number (e.g., 74 cm → 75).
Step 2 (the Cup): Measure the circumference at the fullest part of your chest (at nipple level), this time with the tape measure a little looser.
The result: When you enter the Luna Splendida’s e-fitting Guide, you enter these two numbers and find your perfect match in seconds.
Extra tip:Choose the bra that fits you best in the middle (hook) position. That way, you can tighten or loosen it as your body changes.
