August is here and for most people that means a holiday! Whether your destination is an island, the cottage or the village you should definitely prepare your suitcase properly. The holiday suitcase project can turn from an easy and fun task to a complete pain in the ass. “Did I get enough clothes?”, “Did I pack my swimwear?”, “Did I forget something?”.

To avoid panic the night before departure, let’s go over some basic tips to make packing your summer suitcase a breeze. Key elements to packing your suitcase are planning and organization.

What do I need to take with me?

First, make a list of the categories of things you want to pack and start spreading out the choices from each category on your bed based on the type and days of your holiday.

Clothes for the beach!

When choosing clothes, choose the outfit you want to wear every day, making combinations such as a trousers or a skirt with 2 tops to save space. Pack a pair (or pairs) of shoes that match most of the outfits you’ve chosen and don’t forget your flip flops for the beach. Since it’s summer, and we spend most of our day at the beach, it’s helpful to pack in your suitcasebeachwear. caftans, dresses, pareos, shirts are must choices for your beach appearances.

At Luna Spendida you’ll find matching swimwear with your swimsuit in every swimwear collection to elevate your ensemble on the beach. A beachwear outfit will fit you and accompany you to the tavern after your swim so you can enjoy your snacks in comfort. Of course, an essential tool, I’d say, is a beach towel so don’t forget to pack that too.

Swimsuits … many swimsuits!

We all have our favorite swimsuit or the new swimsuit we bought this year and we definitely want to wear it to the beach. But the truth is that a swimsuit is never enough! So I suggest that in addition to your basic swimsuit, you should take along 1-2 more options. This advice definitely has a stylistic background to have more than one beach look. However, it also has practical reasons. Experts recommend not spending too many hours in a wet swimsuit to avoid vaginitis and infections. So, a second dry swimsuit can keep you away from pesky fungus and bacteria.

Extra tip: You may be a fan of printed swimsuits (and rightly so!), but a second one, monochrome swimsuit, will complement your collection beautifully!

“Internal” renewal in discounts

The “unwritten” rule of lingerie is n+2, where n is the number of days of the trip. More practically, pack one change of underwear for each day plus 2 more extras to be safe. As for the bras, be sure to pack 1-2 options that will fit through each outfit like some strapless ή versatile. Don’t forget that it’s sale season so if your underwear needs a refresh, now is a smart time!

4 practical tips to save space in your suitcase

  1. The rolling technique: rolling clothes and packing them in rolls helps to fit more items into the available space. If you roll them carefully, you also avoid the annoying crumpling when moving them.
  2. The packing and the cases: Prefer to store your underwear and swimwear in separate compartments or fabric bags. This way you’ll keep them clean and they’ll be easier to find in your suitcase. The νεσεσέρ are essential travel tools. Make 3 travel bags, one with the sunscreen you will take to the beach, one with your toiletries such as creams, shower gels, cleansers, deodorants and one with your makeup items. Finally, make a smaller net bag with the jewelry you’ll take with you.

3. The tetris method. Once you’ve come up with everything you want to take with you, lay it out on your bed and slowly start putting it in your suitcase without leaving any gaps.

4. From top to bottom: As you start packing, consider which of the things you put in your suitcase you will need first and which you won’t need first. Place the clothes – items you won’t need immediately below and those you will use first on top. For example, don’t stash your swimwear at the bottom of your suitcase if the first thing you’re going to do when you arrive is go for a swim!

No, packing a suitcase is not a science! With methodicalness and proper organization it is an easy and painless task! The goal on your vacation is to relax, fill yourself with beautiful images and create pleasant memories!

Have a nice holiday!

With Love,

Eva
